Private Pilot Licence
The first step in aviation training is to obtain your private pilot licence, this is the foundation to all your future flying.
Night Rating
After obtaining a private pilot licence, the night rating allows the pilot to fly in unsuitable visual weather conditions and at night.
Instrument Rating
With an instrument rating, a pilot will have the ability to control the aircraft attitude and performance, using instruments and radio aids.
Commercial Pilot Licence
If you wish to pursue a career as a commercial pilot, this is the course for you.
Multi-Engine Rating
A multi-engine rating qualifies you to fly an aircraft with more than one engine. Most employment opportunities require experience on multi engine aircraft.
Instructors Rating
Obtaining an Instructors rating is money well invested. The most natural place for a commercial pilot to build hours towards an ATPL is by becoming a flight Instructor.
Air Transport Pilots licence
If you want to go all the way and become an airline captain, this is the licence that you will have to acquire. This is also the highest qualification you can get as a pilot.
Type Rating
A type rating is a regulating agency’s certification for an airplane pilot to fly a special type of aircraft that will require additional training. We offer Turbine as well as Type ratings on A320/B737 Types.

How We Started Mach 1
Mach 1 Aviation Academy was first birthed during a training flight between a student (who later became our CEO) and her Instructor. As a Flight Instructor who had trained over a hundred students, mainly through constant word-of-mouth referrals, our Founder saw a huge gap in the market with increasing demand for good training facilities.
The Chief Flight Instructor has been a Flight Instructor for 6 years and gained valuable experience in the running of Flight Schools, alongside the CEO, who has worked over 10 years for the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). With this combined experience, Mach 1 Aviation Academy was founded.
